A new found love...

First of all, since I'm much more active on Google+ now, I've not been posting on the blog. Quite frankly, I'm busy shooting these days, so it leaves me less time to contribute to the blog. I do have some topics for the future to write about....but again...I need time.

In the meantime, here is a little somethine I'm preparing.

As I prepare to go photograph the wonderful country of Iceland this winter I've taken a new found interest in time lapse photography. Over the past couple weeks, I've been photographing the Malibu land and seascapes as practice for the big trip to the land of ice and snow....Here's just a preview of things to come. -cg

A wedding sneak peek...

I know I haven't posted a blog entry in a while so I'm going to try to get it up and going again. I've been quite busy to say the least photographing everything from the Milky Way at Joshua Tree National Park, to weddings, portraits, and even a trip to Central America. But what better way to make a new blog entry than with a few wedding photos at the peak of wedding season.

This evening, I photographed another Malibu wedding. It was a beautiful warm day in Malibu and I took advantage of the great golden light that we were gifted with at sunset. The wedding today was also the first time I shot a solo wedding in a long time. I did have my young brother interning with me so I wasn't quite alone....it made the day all the more memorable. Here's a sneak peek of what I captured...more to come. :-)

El Salvador Day 2...photographing a volcano.

Today I climbed the tallest volcano in the country of El Salvador. It was quite a journey and certainly rewarding at the top. The Santa Ana volcano erupted as recently as 2005 and the heat can certainly be felt at the top. The unique characteristic at the top is the giant crater that hosts a bright turquoise colored sulfuric lagoon. Overall, the experience was amazing. The top of the volcano is one of the most unique places I've ever photographed....Here are just a couple shots of the crater.

El Salvador

One of my current projects is a tourism project in the small country of El Salvador in Central America. I arrived yesterday and before starting the project tomorrow I took a relaxing day to hit the surfing beaches of the pacific coast. "El Tunco" as it's known here was a delightful surprise. It was filled with Europeans and Australians that were enjoying the dark volcanic sand beaches and the great surfing conditions. I snapped a few pictures of the beach and of course tried to catch a few waves...it was a relaxing day among the kind people in El Salvador.

Tomorrow I'm climbing three volcanoes with camera in hand....should be fun. -cg

A Different Perspective...

So here's a new perspective...I grabbed the ole' macro lens and fired away on some flowers for some stock images. This is what came out. -cg

Exploring more SoCal backroads...

No wedding on Saturday means I can go explore SoCal back roads and places of interest. On this particular Saturday the journey took me and a photographer buddy up Highway 33 in Ventura County into Kern County. We captured various interesting structures and even ended up right on top of the San Andreas Fault.

All in all, the photography opportunities were endless....here's a summary of today's images. -cg

No Poppies...no problem :Exploring California...

Yesterday I decided to head to the California Poppy Reserve near Lancaster. To my disappointment this year there are no poppies in bloom so all I got were brown hills. However, as is such with many photography projects, they never go as planned. No flowers, meant no colors, and I had to get the creative juices flowing to salvage the day. On top of that, the wind was blowing nearly 55miles per hour...it was interesting.

Me along with another photographer that joined me decided that we would just go explore the countryside to see what we could discover. What we found was an amazing opportunity  to photograph the countryside of California that not many people get to see (or know is there).

And discover we did. We found some pretty worn down places that I plan to use for photo shoots at some point in the future. Here's a few of the shots I captured while exploring...-cg

Ohh and I rarely get in from of the camera but this place had so much character that I had to take a few environmental portraits.
